MARTIJN J. KRAMP

Martijn J. Kramp is a costume designer and bespoke cutter/tailor whose work beautifully blends aesthetics and craftsmanship.

 

Kickstarting his design journey at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, he discovered his love for storytelling through costume design.

For over a decade, Martijn perfected his skills at the Costume Department of the National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam, aiming for nothing but the best. During this period, he collaborated with a diverse array of costume and set designers, honing his craft and gaining invaluable experience.

Under his own label, Martinus Johannes, he has become a go-to designer in the world of opera, collaborating on remarkable projects with prestigious institutions like Nederlandse Reisopera, Holland Opera, Silbersee, National Opera & Ballet, Opera Zuid, and OpusOne Musicals.

Martijn's talents even led him to the renowned Cinecittà Studios in Rome, where he ventured into the world of cinema. In recent years, Martijn has been working on international screen productions, including Luca Guadagnino's Queer, starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, where he collaborated with costume designer Jonathan Anderson. He also contributed to Ryan Murphy’s new series The Beauty, working closely with Emmy-winning costume designer Lou Eyrich.
