
MARTIJN J. KRAMP
Martijn J. Kramp is a costume designer and bespoke tailor. He combines aesthetics and craftsmanship in the right balance to create detailed images.
In 2007 he graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy Audiovisual Design in Rotterdam. During his time at Toneelgroep de Appel, Martijn started to focus on the possibilities of the visual power of storytelling in costume design. Since 2008, Martijn has been working for the Costume Department of National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam. Where he refined his bespoke tailoring skills at the highest level. And manages to work with a wide variety of other costume- and set designers.
In his short film ‘Vestiaire’, which had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2011, design plays a prominent role. From that time on he works as a full-time designer, under his Martinus Johannes label, in film and theatre. Including the opera ‘Thijl’ (Jan van Gilse) directed by Wim Trompert, 'Swan Lake’ for Holland Opera and 'Der Kaiser von Atlantis' (Viktor Ullman), as part of the 2016 program Theater na de Dam.
Recent years, Martijn has been working for M31 Foundation, Nederlandse Reisopera, Holland Opera, Silbersee, National Opera & Ballet, Opera Zuid and Opus One Musicals among others.
